The Mule Palm (× Butiagrus nabonnandii) is a hybrid cross between the cold-hardy Pindo Palm and the Queen Palm. It offers the lush, feathery aesthetic of a tropical palm combined with the durability to withstand temperatures dropping to 14° F.

Hardiness: Thrives in USDA Zones 8–11. Established trees bounce back well from occasional frosts and freezes.
Size: Grows at a medium-to-fast rate, reaching a mature height of 20 to 30 feet with a canopy spread of 15 to 20 feet.
Light: Prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade.
Water & Soil: Moderate water needs. Thrives in well-draining soil and is highly drought-tolerant once established.
Maintenance: Requires minimal pruning (only remove completely brown fronds) and benefits from a slow-release palm fertilizer applied during the spring and summer.
